Even though Donald Trump is on trial in Manhattan facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a scandal, he continues to hold a comfortable lead in the race for the 2024 Presidential Election, reports 'New York Post'. According to a survey conducted by SSRS, 49% of registered voters support the former president while 43% favor President Joe Biden. The support for the incumbent has come down from January when it registered 45% of voters in his favor.

Support for Joe Biden comes down

It was also found in the SSRS poll that 61% of registered voters who were questioned, said that Biden failed as a president, compared to 57% in January. Only 39% said the president had been successful. About 17% of those polled said they don’t like Biden or Trump.

CNN said in its report that 92% of Republicans thought Trump’s time in office was a success while 73% of Democrats said Biden’s had been a success so far. Among independents, 51% say Trump’s presidency was successful while only 37% see Biden’s as a success.


The channel reported that those who participated in the polls gave Biden particularly low scores on the economy and inflation, with 34% and 29% ratings, respectively. They are among 62% of those who say the economy is "deeply important" leaning for Trump.

Immigration, and crime important issues

It also said in its report that 48% of people polled said they considered immigration, crime and gun policy as “extremely important” issues, with health care, abortion and Supreme Court nominations lagging.
