The nine candidates were named on NBC's "Today Show", highlighting individuals, concepts or groups that "had the most influence on the world throughout the previous 12 months."
Here the top nine nominees for the award:
Hollywood strikers
As reported by Time, the strike staged by Hollywood actors and writers this year showcased "a rare show of the power of both labor and the entertainment industry."
The 118-day strike concluded in November with the negotiation of a tentative agreement between SAG-AFTRA, the union representing 160,000 actors and media professionals, and Hollywood studios and streaming services.
Xi Jinping
The Chinese President has figured in the Time100 list for over 10 times. Xi was also a runner-up for Time's 2017 Person of the Year award.
Taylor Swift
With her re-released albums registering record-setting streams to her 'Era's Tour' becoming one of the highest-grossing global tour, the American pop singer had a massive year, making her one of the strong contenders for the honour.
Sam Altman
Sam Altman the visionary behind groundbreaking ChatGPT is also a nominee for this year's Person of The Year award.
Trump prosecutors
Trump prosecutors in Florida, Georgia, New York and Washington DC who brought forward felony charges against former US President Donald Trump for election interference are also contenders for the award.

Vladimir Putin
The Russian President, who was Time's Person of the Year in 2007 and has made to Time100 list multiple times, is also been considered for the honour
King Charles III, who was anointe as the king in May, is on the list for candidates for the honour. Queen Elizabeth II, his mother, was Time's Person of the Year in 1952.
Jerome Powell
Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell, who has been on the Time100 list in 2019 and 2020, has been nominated for playing "a key role managing high inflation in the US," according to Time.
