Riverdale actor, Ryan Grantham who played character Jeffery Augustin will now be jailed for murdering his mother.

The 24-year-old was given a life sentence on September 22 after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March 2022. The actor has been sentenced with the possibility of parole.

Ryan Grantham had shot his mother, Barbara Waite, in the head in March 2020. Ryan murdered his mother in their townhouse in Squamish in Canada. During the hearing, it also became public that Ryan even planned to kill Justin Trudeau, Canada's prime minister, but he turned himself into the police following a change in his mind.





Ryan Grantham's counsel, during the trial, stated that the actor suffered from anxiety, depression, and self-loathing. Ryan had expressed his desire to harm others and himself before shooting his mother, his counsel, Chris Johnson, said. Johnson added that Ryan had already anticipated the judgment.

Reportedly, Ryan killed his mother because he wanted "to spare her" from seeing the violence the actor intended to commit. As per Justice Kathleen Ker, Ryan was getting psychiatric treatment in jail and appeared to improve. Ryan's sister, Lisa, said that it hurt to know that he was a danger to their mother's life.
