Background

His alleged victims were primarily women involved in sex work, and their remains were found along a stretch of beach in Suffolk County, New York 69. The investigation into the Gilgo Beach killings began in 2010 when police discovered multiple sets of human remains along a 2.6-mile stretch of Ocean Parkway, raising fears of a serial killer.

Legal Proceedings

The investigation into Heuermann's activities revealed a significant collection of violent and disturbing pornography on his electronic devices, which prosecutors argue is consistent with the nature of the crimes he is accused of committing. Additionally, hair samples found with Mack's remains matched the DNA profiles of Heuermann's wife and daughter, further implicating him in the crime. He is currently awaiting trial, with ongoing investigations into other potential victims and cases related to the Gilgo Beach murders.
