According to reports, Lucidi gained unauthorized entry into the apartment block by falsely claiming to visit a friend on the 40th floor. Instead, he took the elevator up to the 49th floor and further accessed the stairwells leading to the top floor.


At approximately 7:30 PM local time, he knocked on the window of a penthouse on the 68th floor, seeking entry. The domestic worker inside grew suspicious and refused to let him in, prompting Lucidi to leave eventually.

Tragically, a short while later, the police received a call about a gas leak in the building. Upon arrival, they made the grim discovery of the young climber's lifeless body outside the high-rise. The fall had apparently broken a gas pipe, adding to the tragedy.
