Who is Rebecca King-Crews, diagnosed with Parkinson’s six years after her cancer battle?
Rebecca King-Crews, the wife of Terry Crews, shared that she has Parkinson’s disease. She told this news in an interview on the Today on Monday. Rebecca, who is 60 years old, said doctors found her illness in 2015. But she decided to talk about it in public only now. She said she spoke out because she recently had a medical procedure to help with symptoms on one side of her body. She also said she is already feeling better after the procedure.

Rebecca explained she can now write her name and dates again. She also said she is able to write with her right hand for the first time in about three years. She added that she will still be in recovery for around three months. She expects to continue improving during this recovery period.

Rebecca said a second procedure is scheduled for September for the other side of her body, as stated by Page Six. She revealed her first symptom was slight numbness in her left foot. She also noticed that her arm stopped swinging when she walked. Later, she developed tremors in her arm.

Parkinson’s symptoms journey

A doctor initially dismissed her tremors as anxiety. Rebecca said women’s symptoms are often labeled as stress. She asked for referrals and continued to push for answers. It took about three years for her to finally get diagnosed. She said she shared her story now to raise awareness about the procedure. She also said she believes a cure for Parkinson’s will be found in the future, as stated by Page Six.

Terry Crews became emotional during the joint interview. He called Rebecca a “superhero” and the “rock” of their family. The couple got married in July 1989. They have five children: Naomi, Azriél, Tera, Wynfrey and Isaiah. Terry said watching Rebecca deal with health struggles over the last 10 to 12 years has been very hard, as noted by Page Six. He mentioned her symptoms like tremors, lack of sleep and loss of balance. He also referred to her 2020 battle with breast cancer. Terry said seeing her write her name again after three years made him emotional. The couple also spoke to People about her health journey.

Family support and recovery

Rebecca told the outlet she is able to do about 90 percent of what she wants to do. She said Terry has been her support system. She thanked him for helping her access doctors and treatments. Terry said some days he can only hold her when she cries. He said his mission is to make sure she gets the best care possible. Terry added, “Where she’s weak, I’m strong,” showing his support.
