A 78-year-old veteran district judge, Raymond Dearie, has been appointed as special master to review the documents from former US president Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. Judge Aileen Cannon has named the United States judge from the Eastern New York District to act as the appointee, who will investigate the mishandling of sensitive materials and act as an independent third party in the criminal case. It will be Dearie's duty to scrutinize thousands of records and documents that the FBI seized from Donald Trump's home in Florida. The records include classified and top-secret materials as well. Trump's team had agreed to Dearie's appointment as the judge, who will assume the special master role in the Department of Justice. Trump's lawyers rejected the other two judges that the DoJ proposed. Dearie can review these documents by November 30. Trump had assigned Cannon, and she rejected the request to review classified records made by the DoJ. The DoJ wanted these documents to be a part of the investigation as officials seized them from the former President's house.
