The Board of Directors accepted Byron’s resignation, the company said in a post on X. Meanwhile, Cabot, who was seen sharing cozy moments with Byron, is still working as Chief People Officer. After the video from the Coldplay concert went viral and ignited a storm on social media, he was placed on leave, and DeJoy named the interim CEO on Saturday (July 19, 2025). “We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days," the company further stated.
Pete DeJoy: Family, career, and net worth
Pete DeJoy, Astronomer’s co-founder and chief product officer, co-founded data company Astronomer in 2017, becoming its vice president for product in January 2023, according to media reports. He later went on to become the company’s chief product officer in February 2025.
DeJoy has a bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics from Bowdoin College in Maine, according to his LinkedIn profile. According to The Sun, he was "instrumental in expanding Astronomer's data orchestration platform" during his eight years with the company.
On LinkedIn, the Astronomer interim CEO said that he "did whatever it took to bring the first incarnations of our commercial offerings to market and build our business." Since Byron has quit, it's still unclear if DeJoy will become Astronomer's permanent CEO or if the company will pick someone else.
