“There's no better person in the world to me than my husband,” Munn stated on CBS Sunday Morning,featuring the depth of support she got during her diagnosis and treatment.

The actor, widely recognized for The Newsroom and X-Men: Apocalypse, described that Mulaney remained actively involved in each phase of her care, that includes accompanying her to medical consultations and preparing notes on process and recovery information.

“He wanted to come to every single doctor's appointment,” Munn remembered. “He had his little notebook. You know? And he's got his notebook that he writes all of his ideas for jokes and anything that comes to him through the day.”

She further stated: “You know, having the humor to go through it and having someone who's so funny, it really– it just lightens everything.”

Diagnosis with no symptoms and early detection

Munn disclosed that her cancer was discovered without any physical symptoms or family history. She credited a free online Lifetime Risk Assessment test for bringing further medical screening, which eventually included MRI scans, ultrasounds, and a biopsy.

Physicians later found Luminal B breast cancer in both breasts, explained in her earlier Instagram post as an “aggressive, fast-moving cancer,” which needed multiple surgeries.

“I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next,” she cited. “I’m lucky. We caught it with enough time that I had options.”

Public disclosure and gratitude toward her husband

Munn publicly revealed her diagnosis in March 2024, sharing information of her treatment journey and showing gratitude for her husband’s support throughout.

“I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect,” she stated.
