Who is Nick Fuentes, Charlie Kirk’s critic and extreme far-right political commentator facing social media heat? What did he say about the right-winger’s killing

The assassination of Charlie Kirk, the right-wing conservative commentator at Utah Valley University, has brought Nicholas Joseph Fuentes (Nick Fuentes), an extreme far-right political commentator, into the spotlight. Fuentes has been a critic of Kirk, and the two have had a long-simmering feud that began in 2019, when Fuentes's supporters disrupted Turning Point USA events. The social media speculations around the possible motive behind Kirk’s killing turned towards extremist factions that once targeted Kirk, including Fuentes' "Groyper Army," as the investigation continued days after the Wednesday shooting.

Several claims and theories on social media are now linking the shooting suspect identified as Tyler Robinson to Fuentes' 'Groyper' movement. The 22-year-old Utah man was arrested in the killing of Kirk, authorities said Friday (September 12, 2025). There has been no official confirmation yet from the investigators probing Kirk's killing about Robinson's link to Fuentes or his 'Groyper' movement.

Amid the mounting heat on social media over Kirk’s killing, Fuentes reacted to the speculations in a series of posts over social media, calling the people from the left “pure evil.” In a post on X, he also criticized the mainstream media for “framing” him for the shooting with literally “zero” evidence.


“My followers and I are currently being framed for the murder of Charlie Kirk by the mainstream media based on literally zero evidence. After the Left gunned him down, they celebrated and justified it. They said I was next. Now they are blaming me. These people are pure evil,” Fuentes said.




In another X post, the extreme far-right political commentator said, “The Left is now shamelessly trying to blame the Right for the murder of Charlie Kirk which they have been openly celebrating & justifying for days. They have no charity, love, or humanity for any of us or our families. We must take power for our own survival. We win or we die.”

Who is Nicholas Joseph Fuentes

Born in the Chicago suburbs in 1998, Fuentes is an antisemitic far-right leader who has often been seen praising Adolf Hitler, according to the Texas Tribune. He dropped out of college and went on to build a presence on YouTube. He often expressed his most extreme views through humor and satire.

His followers have been nicknamed “groypers” after a cartoon frog that has become a meme in far-right online communities. 'Groypers' often accused Kirk of not being “pro-white” enough.

“Groypers” would often try to access microphones during Q&A sessions to attack Kirk, who helped recruit younger voters to the GOP. He has fantasized about marrying a 16-year-old when he is older.

The real feud between Kirk and Fuentes surfaced during the 2019 "Groyper Wars," when his supporters, known as the "Groyper Army," disrupted Turning Point USA events, challenging Kirk on immigration and LGBTQ rights while labeling him a "gatekeeper" of establishment conservatism, according to Newsweek.
