“Today was about the survivors. Ms. Haley, her remarks were powerful, moving, and eloquent. I thank her first and foremost, and all of the survivors who came to lend their support. I’m moved, as we should all be moved, by their courage and their steadfastness through what has obviously been a challenging process,” Bragg said.

Haley also spoke about Weinstein’s response to the case. Although he said he felt remorse for her, he continued to deny his guilt.

“I think he still feels entitled, and that’s part of the problem. You know, I think that unfortunately he has this, in my opinion, delusional sense,” Haley said. “I think that he is not at all acknowledging what he even did.”

At the end of the day, Haley and Allred walked outside the courthouse holding hands and raising their arms together.

For Haley, the 15-year sentence brought a conclusion to a legal fight that had stretched across years. But her own words made clear that ending the case does not mean erasing what happened.

“It doesn’t go away,” she said. “It’s happened, and it’s gonna stay with me to some degree.”
