Louisiana Republican Representative Mike Johnson has been nominated by GOP peers as their preferred candidate for the position of speaker, a role of great significance in the political arena.

Known for his passionate debates on the House Judiciary Committee, Johnson has established himself as a prominent constitutional lawyer and a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, notably voting against the 2020 election results.
