Who is Laura Loomer, the ‘proud Islamophobe activist’ who claimed Gazans get pregnant during war to seek US visas for ‘anchor babies’

After conservative activist Laura Loomer posted videos on social media showing children from Gaza arriving in the United States for medical treatment and questioned how they obtained visas, the State Department announced that it would be halting all visitor visas for individuals from Gaza pending a review.

The State Department said Saturday, August 16, that the visas would be stopped while it investigates how “a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas” were issued in recent days, as usnews.com reported.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told “Face the Nation” on CBS on Sunday that the action came after ”outreach from multiple congressional offices asking questions about it."


Recently, she expressed an opinion on X about why Gazans are becoming pregnant during war, without food, in communal tents. She suggested they hope to obtain visas from the US State Department to have anchor babies.

Who is Laura Loomer?

Laura Loomer was born in Tucson, Arizona, on May 21, 1993. She grew up in Arizona with her two brothers. Loomer initially attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts but left after one semester, citing feelings of being targeted for her conservative beliefs.

She then transferred to Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, where she graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. Loomer is of Jewish heritage.

Political controversy

Laura Loomer, 31, describes herself as an investigative journalist, free spirit, and founder of Loomered, and currently hosts Loomer Unleashed. A former operative with Project Veritas, she has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump and has twice run unsuccessfully for Congress in South Florida (2020 and 2022).

She is widely known for her headline-grabbing stunts, including handcuffing herself to Twitter’s office after being banned from the platform and jumping a fence at a property owned by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Loomer accompanied Trump during his 9/11 anniversary visits in New York and Pennsylvania last year. She was also seen disembarking from his plane after he landed in Philadelphia for a debate with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. However, she stated she was invited as a guest.

She has been an activist for various organizations, including Project Veritas, the Geller Report, Rebel News, and InfoWars. She has described herself as being "pro-white nationalist" and a "proud Islamophobe". She currently hosts a show, Loomer Unleashed, streaming weekly on Rumble.

The influencer frequently makes anti-Islam and anti-immigrant posts on social media and makes racist and sexist attacks. She once shared a video on X that said “9/11 was an Inside Job!”

Some social media platforms, including Facebook, have banned Loomer. According to the Guardian, during last year’s presidential campaign, she posted that if Harris beat Trump, “the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center,” alluding to Harris’s Indian and Jamaican heritage.
