TikTok Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shou Zi Chew on Thursday appeared before a US House Panel in order to argue against the apprehensions raised over the alleged danger associated with the video app owned by Chinese giant ByteDance. Chew testified before the US House Energy and Commerce Committee over the TikTok's data security and privacy as well as its alleged link with Beijing, according to reports.

Chew joined Goldman Sachs as investment banker. Chew was appointed CEO of TikTok in May 2021 after joining the company as chief financial officer.
