Who is Bishop Briggs / Medusa?

Bishop Briggs was born Sarah Grace McLaughlin on July 18, 1992, in London. The singer-songwriter took the stage name Bishop Briggs after being inspired by the name of her parents' town of Bishopbriggs in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland.

Bishop Briggs lived in Hong Kong as a teenager and then moved to Los Angeles, USA, to study at the Musicians Institute. Her first single was ‘Wild Horses’ in 2015, but her song ‘River’ earned her fame when it peaked at number 3 on the US Alternative Chart.

The singer opened for British band Coldplay in 2016 and also played on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The number ‘Wild Horses’ was taken in Acura's 2016 Super Bowl commercial.

Bishop Briggs' sister died of cancer

Bishop Briggs dedicated the songs ‘High Water’ and ‘The Art of Survival’ to her sister Kate, who died of ovarian cancer in 2021 at the age of 30. "Kate was the biggest ray of light. She walked in gratitude every single day," Briggs told Nylon magazine in July 2022, adding that her sister "always navigated the world with a positive headspace".
