White House to host UFC fight as Trump makes big announcement

President Donald Trump announced a bold and unconventional idea on Thursday by proposing to host a UFC fight on the White House grounds in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

Speaking at an event in Iowa to launch a yearlong series of festivities, Trump said, "We have a lot of land there," referring to the White House, and floated the possibility of a 'full fight'.

A longtime UFC fan and close friend of league president Dana White, Trump has attended several recent UFC events, including championship fights and his post-reelection appearance in 2024.



Alongside the proposed UFC event, Trump also announced plans for a major festival on the National Mall and a national athletic competition featuring top high school athletes.

"So every one of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of America 250. And I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight," Trump said.

"Think of this on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there," he said, adding that it would be a "full fight” with 20,000 to 25,000 people.

Trump’s suggestion of turning the White House lawn into a UFC venue with an aim to mark America’s 250th birthday with spectacle and nationwide participation.
