The White House is concerned about Laura Loomer's rise in the circle of US President Donald Trump. President Trump aides who want to downplay the activist's influence are now trying to stop her from doing what she wants.

Reportedly, White House officials are pushing back against Laura Loomer's growing role in Donald Trump's inner circle, saying her influence is exaggerated.

What kind of power does Loomer really have?

Loomer has claimed several "scalps" through her loyalty checks, which is why Trump has fired more than a dozen officials she pointed out since March.

Laura Loomer was involved in loyalty checks that led to high-profile firings, but aides compared her to a "fly" that wouldn't go away.

In the first months of Trump's second term, the far-right conspiracy theorist has become one of the most influential people in his inner circle. The president has fired numerous officials from his administration as a result of her MAGA-loyalty background checks, as per a report by the Daily Beast.

Why is the White House trying to stop her from having an effect?

However, a Financial Times report claims that White House officials have attempted to downplay the incendiary activist's influence over Trump because they are unnerved by the attention Loomer is receiving.

One person familiar with the White House's thinking told FT that Loomer, 32, was like a "fly that keeps getting in your face and keeps coming back, no matter how much you swat it away." "Her influence is vastly overstated," the source said. Besides, the source cast doubt on Loomer's continued campaign against Pam Bondi, telling FT that while Loomer may have claimed the "scalps" of some officials, the troubled attorney general is still beyond her grasp.

In the White House, Loomer retaliated against her detractors by calling them out for "professional jealousy." Loomer runs her own loyalty screening business, searching for any hint of anti-MAGA sentiment among current and potential administration members.

“It’s pretty incredible that as a civilian I’m uncovering this information without any funding or any type of government clearance, and yet people who work for the president continue to drop the ball as it relates to . . . vetting,” Laura Loomer told FT.

Since March, the 79-year-old Trump has met with Loomer in the Oval Office and fired over a dozen of her targets, despite his attempts to downplay her influence by claiming that he "sometimes" considers her suggestions.

The president praised the self-described 9/11 truther and Islamophobe, who has regularly clashed with other Trump allies like Marjorie Taylor Greene, earlier this month, calling her a "very nice person."

Has Laura Loomer's power been limited?

However, Loomer's unsuccessful attempt to have Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fired, or, as she puts it, "Loomered", recently exposed the extent of her influence within his administration. At the request of Loomer, who uncovered his previous anti-MAGA posts, Trump first pressured Vinay Prasad, a senior regulator at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, to step down in late July.

Only a few days later, to her dismay, Prasad was reinstated, presumably as a result of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles' intervention.

She was also denied access to the Kennedy Center's VIP area in June, where Trump and his spouse Melania were scheduled to see a performance of Les Misérables. According to FT, the self-described journalist has also attempted and failed to obtain a White House press pass.

As Trump's supporters deal with her disruptive presence, the administration keeps trying to find a balance, they admit Loomer is loyal but strongly deny that she has any control over the levers of power.
