A member of the British royal family made a hilarious and unexpected cameo in the 34th season of Dancing with the Stars. Prince William, the first royal in line for the English throne, appeared in the ballroom virtually to support “twinkle toes” Robert Irwin.

“We’re missing you, Robert,” William stated in the video message. “Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here.”

The prince addressed to the contestant’s partner, Witney Carson:


“You need to get him in as much glitter as you can,” William declared.

Carson, watching the clip, couldn’t hide her thrill:

Dance Dedicated to Family and Royalty

Irwin disclosed that his recent performance, a foxtrot to Leona Lewis’ 2007 hit Footprints in the Sand, was dedicated both to Prince William and his sister, Bindi.

“We are doing this dance for Bindi,” he explained. “And we are doing this dance for Prince William, so let’s not mess this up!”

Bindi had also performed to the same track as a participant on the show’s 21st season, in a tribute to their late father, Steve Irwin. Mirroring on the pressure, Robert stated:

“There’s a lot of weight. Because I really want it to be our best dance yet, to be honest.”

Earthshot Prize

While rehearsing, Robert disclosed that he had originally been set to accompany Prince William to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize. Now he serves as a global ambassador for the environmental scheme. In his concluding remarks at this year’s program, which recognized five recipients, Prince William cited:

“When we founded the Earthshot Prize in 2020, we had a 10-year goal, to make this the decade in which we transformed our world for the better. We set out to tackle environmental issues head on…and make real, lasting changes that would protect life on Earth.”

The prince further said:

“It was a mission driven by the kind of extraordinary optimism we’ve felt here tonight, from these innovators. Their work is the proof we need that progress is possible.”
