Due to concerns about magnet ingestion danger, YETI Holdings, Inc., an American manufacturer of coolers and outdoor equipment, has issued a countrywide recall for around two million soft coolers and gearboxes.

The Hopper M30 Soft Cooler 1.0, Hopper M30 Soft Cooler 2.0, Hopper M20 Soft Backpack Cooler, and the SideKick Dry Gear Case are among the soft cooler and gear cases that are included in the recall.

The primary pocket clasp on the recalled coolers is lined with strong magnets. Consumer complaints indicate that although the magnets are surrounded in a heat-sealed plastic strip, the closures may deteriorate or fail, leading to the high-power magnets being disconnected from them or going missing.


The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Health Canada, and YETI Holdings, Inc. jointly announced the recall on March 9, 2023. There have been no reported fatalities or accidents involving the consumption of detachable magnets, according to the government and the corporation.

Over 1.9 million soft coolers and gear boxes sold all throughout the United States and made in the Philippines, Vietnam, and China are subject to recall. Moreover, 40,760 gear boxes and soft coolers were sold in Canada.

Consumers may have purchased the impacted goods from well-known local businesses including Academy Sports + Outdoors, ACE Hardware, Dick's Sporting Goods, Yeti outlets, and others. Also, the recalled coolers may be purchased online at www.amazon.com and www.yeti.com. Between March 2018 and January 2023, the implicated items were sold all throughout the United States and Canada.

The recalled soft coolers and gearboxes came with a hand tag that bore the name of the product and were sold in a variety of colors. The SideKick Dry Gear Case cost about $50, the Hopper M20 Soft Backpack Cooler cost $325, and the Hopper M30 Soft Cooler 1.0 and 2.0 cost between $300 and $350.

The business will provide the consumer with a gift card for the amount of the product they bought plus an extra $25.
