Which actor has bagged the titular role in Mike Tyson's biopic? Find out!

The Walt Disney Company-owned Hulu is releasing a new series called 'Mike.' The series is a biopic on the life of the legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson. The series boasts of being a no-holds-barred depiction of Tyson's life. Its trailer was released on 8th June, giving a sneak peek of the actor chosen to play the titular role.

Who plays Mike Tyson in the biopic?
Trevante Rhodes has bagged the titular role in the Mike Tyson biopic. Rhoades came into the limelight with Barry Jenkins' Moonlight'. The movie depicted the struggle of a young African-American man with his sexuality and identity. It won an Oscar giving Rhodes the fame he deserved.


Besides 'Moonlight,' Trevante Rhodes has also starred in other notable movies like the reboot of 'The Predator' and 'Bird Box.' In the TV series genre, he starred in another biopic on Hulu called 'The United States vs Billie Holiday.' In the biopic, he played the character of an FBN (Federal Bureau of Narcotics) agent, Jimmy Fletcher, tracking every move of the criminal Billie Holiday.

Tyson's reaction
Surprisingly, Mike Tyson is unhappy with Hulu's biopic and has spoken out against it. He made a statement in February 2021, which has since been deleted. However, in his statement, he said that it isn't surprising that Hulu has announced an unauthorized mini-series on his life without any compensation. He also added that Hulu's announcement, along with the social disparities in the country, exemplifies Hulu's corporate greed. He called out Hulu's tone-deaf and inappropriate depiction of his life story.

He mentioned that Hollywood should be more sensitive about black experiences after the events of 2020. Ending his statement, he added that his life's true and authorized story is in the pipeline and will be announced in the coming days.

After his statement, the authorized biopic 'Tyson' was announced, starring Jamie Foxx in the titular role. It will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, while the executive producers are Jamie Foxx and Martin Scorsese.

About the 'Tyson' biopic, Mike Tyson also commented that he wanted to tell his life story for a while. He also said he was looking forward to working with Foxx, Scorsese, and Fuqua to present a story that highlights his personal and professional journey and inspires and entertains audiences.
