For the Democrats, if there is one person who they need to be praised for convincing Joe Biden to end his election campaign, it will be the former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi had taken a tough stand which forced the US President to end his campaign. Many people speaking to Politico said that Pelosi informed Biden that they could do this in the easy way or the hard way.

After the first US Presidential debate, Joe Biden faced a massive setback after many members within his own members called on him to end his election campaign. The focus of the media shifted to his own health concerns with many questioning his abilities to serve another team in office. Finally, he withdrew from the presidential race.

Nancy Pelosi’s role:

The former House Speaker had multiple conversations with the US President. She had pointed out that various national surveys had indicated that the party was losing ground in the upcoming election and Donald Trump was emerging as a strong candidate. Further, she also added that the party’ future looks bleak with Biden continuing as the presumptive nominee.

It is under these circumstances that she gave Joe Biden time to decide with an ultimatum. It can be done either through the easy way or the hard way. Many political observers pointed out that the easy way was being followed for more than three weeks and the president did not yield to the concerns of his party members. It was time to activate the tough way, before Biden decided to step aside.

Easy way and hard way:

Nancy Pelosi had asked her party members to not issue statements in the public, calling on Biden to quit the presidential race. The hard way would have been to let the members of the US Congress belonging to the Democratic party to air their grievances in public. This would have resulted in considerable pressure on Biden to end his campaign.

Biden’s decision to end his campaign:

It has been reported that over the weekend, Biden consulted his close aides and his family members before deciding to quit the race. His close aides and family members had fully supported his decision to not quit the race when pressure was building on him. His advisors pointed out that he was losing ground in the six swing states and from within the states supporting the party.
