President Joe Biden will deliver a speech on Monday (local time) focusing on the nation’s potential in biotechnology and biomanufacturing in Boston. Boston has always been known as one of the major biotech hubs in America. From that very place, the US President’s vision of 'America's moonshot’ focusing on eliminating cancer deaths in half within the next 25 years will have an immense impact on the nation’s biotechnology and biomanufacturing capabilities.

How can President Biden's "cancer moonshot" speech be linked to Kennedy’s moonshot speech?

President Biden will deliver the "cancer moonshot’ speech at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, exactly 60 years later, when President John F. Kennedy announced the American vision of landing a man on the moon. President Biden will draw the parallel between Kennedy’s "moonshot" speech and his "cancer moonshot’ speech, where he will discuss the first leader of the biomedical innovation agency he formed earlier this year.

Biden’s initiative in the biotech and biomanufacturing fields will ensure all ingredients used by biotech and pharmaceutical companies are made in the United States only.

What will be the primary agenda of President Biden’s cancer moonshot speech?

The US President’s cancer moonshot speech will highlight an innovative, federally-backed study that can be called a potential game changer in cancer diagnostic testing. In the testing process, a single blood test can be screened for multiple types of cancer in healthy people.

According to experts, it is too early to conclude whether the study will be successful in reducing cancer deaths. At present, cancer is the second leading cause of death not only in the United States but also worldwide.

The issue of cancer is quite personal for the current US President, as he lost his son Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015.

Additionally, President Biden will be expected to declare a new programme to provide resources to new scientists as they study treatments and cures for cancer.
