What is the Trans Atlantic tunnel that Elon Musk wants to dig with his Boring Company? Here are all details of the pathbreaking concept

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made headlines again with his assertion that The Boring Company could construct a Trans Atlantic tunnel connecting New York and London for ‘1000 times less’ than the estimated $20 trillion price tag often cited for such a project, reported Benzinga. This ambitious idea which has been actually circulated for decades still remains largely theoretical and has never progressed beyond the concept stage due to its astronomical costs and logistical challenges.

According to Benzinga, the proposed tunnel would span over 3,000 miles beneath the Atlantic Ocean which is a feat that would require unprecedented engineering solutions. In spite of Tesla CEO Elon Musk's bold claims, there are currently no concrete plans, government approvals or funding allocated for this venture whatsoever.

The comments of Tesla CEO Elon Musk actually also tie into his promotion of hyperloop technology, which eventually aims to use vacuum sealed tubes for high speed travel, asserted Benzinga. However, at the same time, more than ten years after Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduced the hyperloop concept, no commercial systems are operational.

Numerous critics still remain pretty skeptical of Tesla CEO Elon Musk's feasibility claims while citing the immense technical and financial hurdles that such a project would entail, noted Benzinga. While Elon Musk's track record with smaller projects like the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop demonstrates his ability to innovate, the Trans Atlantic tunnel still remains pretty firmly in the realm of speculation and fantasy for now.
