Pictures of the walkie-talkies which surfaced around following the blast had manufacturing labels from ‘ICOM’ company which were actually made in Japan. After getting to know about it, ICOM clarified that it has been several years that they are not producing the kind of walkie-talkie models which were found in the blast and most of the walkie-talkies were bought counterfeit.

Reuters reported that according to the general manager of ICOM who belongs to the security and trade division, Yoshiki Enomoto said, there are high probabilities of older models of ICOM being modified for manufacturing the bomb. Yoshiki Enomoto also added that it is really difficult to fit a bomb in the main compartment of a walkie-talkie and thus the battery pack was used to fit the bomb.
Though, Lebanon reported walkie-talkie explosions where the battery was removed beforehand as well, asserted Reuters. Lebanon Security authorities added that similar to the walkie-talkie explosions, the bombs planted in the pagers were difficult to detect as well whereas in a shocking revelation it was seen that around 0.11 ounce of explosives were implanted inside the pagers.
