The ATACMS missiles, that have been supplied to Ukraine by the United States, have now been fired across the border at Russia, that has now increased the political tensions in both sides of the border. The ATACMS missile has now been fired from an undisclosed location close to the Ukraine border, which has raised alarm among the Russian defense fraternity, and triggered another geopolitical crisis. United States Government has meanwhile, not spoken much about this issue, even though they are the suppliers of these long-range missiles in the first place.

The latest political developments have ratcheted up international tensions, when both Russia and US are criticizing each other on multiple initiatives of each other, including deployment of North Korean troops at the Russia-Ukraine border, as well as Washington's eased restrictions on the ATACMS in recent days.

Neither Russia nor Ukraine can sustain the war if things get extended beyond a certain period of time, according to analysts. However, in comparison to Ukraine, Russia may be able to last longer in the war-like situation because of their vaster resources and reserve troops at their disposal. Whether these things could worsen over time or not, will depend on the international relations between these two countries, as well as relations between Russia and US.
