Southport, a city in Brunswick County, North Carolina, sits at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. The Southport Yacht Basin, along the Intracoastal Waterway, is a well-known destination for boaters and tourists.

There was an active shooting Saturday night at Southport Yacht Basin, leaving three killed and several injured. A spokesperson for the City of Southport confirmed that three people were killed when gunfire erupted at the Southport Yacht Basin. The condition of the eight others who were injured has yet to be known.

According to multiple media reports, witnesses say the boat involved in the Southport shooting was a 23-foot single-engine outboard with a dog on board. The boat reportedly pulled up to the American Fish Company restaurant, fired into the crowd, and then fled away from the scene.
