One woman was ill while expecting and carried the pregnancy to term. Ten deaths have been reported, including one each in Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, New Mexico, and South Carolina, and as of this update, one additional death in New York.
The worst listeriosis outbreak in the United States since 2011, when the disease was first connected to cantaloupe, has now spread to 18 states, according to the CDC, which recorded 14 additional cases since its last update earlier this month. The CDC reported that all 57 individuals in the most recent epidemic have been hospitalized, and it added that six further deaths have occurred, including ones in Florida, Tennessee, New Mexico, and New York and two from South Carolina.

An estimated 1,600 people get listeria each year.Boar's Head recalled all items produced at its Virginia-based facilities due to a listeria outbreak strain. The recall includes approximately 7 million pounds of 71 products, including ready-to-eat meats and poultry products. The affected products were distributed nationwide and exported to the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Panama.
