It led to a scandal when Liberty Safe shared the code of a person's safe with the FBI, while claiming to keep its customers' personal information private.
So, Twitter / X was abuzz with comments like, 'Time to Bud Light Liberty Safe!' The hashtag #BudLightLibertySafe also began trending.
Why did Liberty Safe share user data?
The FBI had issued an arrest warrant against Arkansas resident Nathan Hughes. Upon a request from the federal agency, Liberty Safe gave the FBI the access code of Nathan's safe. This is because the case was in connection with people, who were linked to the January 6 riots.
