Tatiana Schlossberg reveals she has less than a year to live after terminal cancer diagnosis.
Tatiana Schlossberg, daughter of Caroline Kennedy's daughter, made a big revelation, saying that she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in a New Yorker essay published on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The 35-year-old wrote that she learned she had acute myeloid leukemia after giving birth to her second baby in May 2024, after her doctor noticed an imbalance in her white blood cell count. According to her doctors, she may have less than a year to live, USA Today reported.

“A few hours later, my doctor noticed that my blood count looked strange. A normal white blood cell count is around four to eleven thousand cells per microliter. Mine was a hundred and thirty-one thousand cells per microliter,” she wrote in the essay, as quoted by PEOPLE.

Schlossberg further recalled, “It could just be something related to pregnancy and delivery, the doctor said, or it could be leukemia.” She further stated that she was eventually diagnosed with “a rare mutation called Inversion 3.” Schlossberg, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg, is an environmental journalist and author.

What is acute myeloid leukemia?

Known as a rare cancer, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) affects the bone marrow and blood of a person. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it usually happens when certain genes or chromosomes mutate (change). AML usually affects people aged 60 and older, but it can also affect younger adults and children.

If left untreated, acute myeloid leukemia, which is considered an aggressive cancer, can be life-threatening.
