Wegovy pill: Novo Nordisk will begin rolling out the first-ever oral GLP-1 pill for weight loss in the US on Monday, offering a more affordable alternative to weekly injections, as per a report. The drug, called the Wegovy pill, has cash prices ranging from $149 to $299 per month, depending on the dose.

The starting dose of 1.5 milligrams is available for $149 per month at more than 70,000 US pharmacies, including CVS and Costco, as well as select telehealth providers such as Ro, LifeMD, Weight Watchers, GoodRx, and Novo Nordisk’s NovoCare Pharmacy, as per a CNBC report. Higher doses of the pill will be available by the end of the week.

Wegovy Pill Pricing Details: Cash and Insurance Options

The 4-milligram dose is also priced at $149 per month through April 15 and will increase to $199 per month after that. The highest doses, 9 milligrams and 25 milligrams, will be available for $299 per month. Patients with insurance coverage may pay as little as $25 per month.

TrumpRx to Offer Wegovy Pill to Cash-Paying Patients

Under a deal with the Trump administration in November, cash-paying patients will also be able to purchase the starting dose for $149 per month on US president Donald Trump’s direct-to-consumer website, TrumpRx. The site is expected to launch in January, though the exact date has not been confirmed, as per the CNBC report.

Novo Nordisk: Making GLP-1 Pills Affordable and Accessible

Novo Nordisk’s senior vice president of marketing and patient solutions, Ed Cinca said that, “This moment is about changing what’s possible in weight management, and to make that possible, we have worked to ensure [the Wegovy pill] is affordable and accessible to those who need it, however they choose to receive their care,” as quoted by CNBC.
