“We Got a Very Big Investigation”: Officials confirm multiple dead and missing after massive explosion at Tennessee Explosives Manufacturer
A tragic explosion struck through a Tennessee explosives manufacturing plant on Friday morning, leaving many people dead and several others missing. Emergency responders are working hard to find the survivors following the deadly incident. Officials confirmed that “multiple” are dead after a “massive” explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems near Bucksnort, Hickman County, just before 8 a.m.

Search and Rescue Operations Underway

Authorities stated that rescue squads are combing through the debris in search of the missing. The Humphreys County Emergency Management office cited that at least 19 are missing and numerous people have been hospitalized. Family members of plant workers have been instructed to report to Gate 3 for follow-ups.

Medical personnel at TriStar facilities in Dickson confirmed that three individuals sustained “minor injuries” and two have already been discharged following the treatment at TriStar Horizon Medical Center, while one remains under care at TriStar Natchez Emergency Room.

Ongoing Investigation

Sheriff Chris Davis of Humphreys County cited to reporters that there are “some” deaths and several people remain unaccounted for. “We got a very big investigation,” Davis mentioned in a press briefing. “This is not going to be something that we're going to be like a car wreck or something like that, that we're just going to clean up the debris and leave. We're going to probably be here for a few days.”

He said, “We're trying to take as much time as is needed right now. We're prioritizing people that are involved, their families and trying to be very compassionate toward them.”

Company Response

Accurate Energetic Systems authorities are working closely with investigators. “Accurate Energetic Systems is cooperating with us in any way, in every way possible,” Davis mentioned. “They're wanting to figure out this just as much as we are,” he said.
