Kelly Clarkson, star of the week's Variety cover, and singer Dolly Parton have recreated the original hit '9 to 5'. They launched this new version before the documentary 'Still Working 9 to 5' was released on September 16.

They collaborated with the documentary's executive producers, Sasha Sloan, Shane McAnally, and King Henry, to announce the new version. The announcement stated that fans should reimagine the original converted into a sad and inspirational anthem 40 years after the original was released, as the struggle for workplace equality continues.

The song '9 to 5' was originally Dolly Parton's creation. Written and recorded by her, the song was produced by Gregg Berry. It was released in 1980 along with a movie of the same name. The film starred Jane Fonda, Parton, and Lily Tomlin.

Shane McAnally, the executive producer, said that working with two of the greatest singers was the wildest of dreams. He added that he had revived the classic brand new after 40 years.
