Lorenz's Twitter account (@TaylorLorenz), which she began using in 2010, had more than 340,000 followers when it was banned.
Elon Musk has been silent on Twitter's suspension of Lorenz's Twitter account. Variety tried contacting Twitter's public relations department for comment but heard back from nobody.
Twitter has banned Lorenz, who regularly reports on Twitter and Elon Musk, after the billionaire cancelled numerous journalists' accounts on Thursday, alleging they had "doxxed" him after several tweeted links to an account that followed his private plane. Some of the accounts were reinstated on Friday night.
By deleting Lorenz's account without explanation, Elon Musk, who has described himself as a "free speech absolutist," seems to be launching a campaign to suppress material and comments critical of him from the platform he paid $44 billion to buy.

According to the Substack post, Lorenz posted only three tweets on her Twitter account when Elon banned her: one promoting her Instagram and TikTok accounts, another requesting feedback from Musk on a story she and her WaPo colleague Drew Harwell were working on involving Musk, and another promoting her TikTok and Instagram accounts. Before, Harwell's account has been banned and then unbanned.
