Washington Monument's restoration begins after man held for its vandalisation with red paint
A man was arrested for vandalising the Washington Monument on Tuesday. The vandalisation was done with red paint. Restoration works have begun, and the area around the monument has been closed for a few days. The police reported the alert on Twitter.

Various slangs and obscene language were written all over the Monument's base, with the help of a splash of red paint. The written slurs also had curse words. As National Park Service conservators restored the Monument, a temporary closure was imposed around the Washington Monument's base.
