Want to be an actor? Keanu Reeves’ honest advice is going viral - don't miss it
Hollywood veteran Keanu Reeves, alongside co-stars Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer, shared invaluable advice for aspiring actors. Reeves stressed the importance of respect and humility on set, stating, "Go to work and respect who you’re working with u...

From respect and humility to staying grounded through fame, the conversation quickly turned into a candid reflection on life in Hollywood. The reunion between Reeves and Diaz, nearly 30 years after Feeling Minnesota, also added an emotional layer to the moment. For actors trying to find their footing in a highly competitive industry, Reeves kept his advice refreshingly simple, as per a report by E! News.
What did Keanu Reeves say about success?
Speaking during the interview, Keanu Reeves said, “Try not to be a f--king a--hole," Keanu exclusively told E! News’ Will Marfuggi. He followed that with advice that reflects both professionalism and personal character, “And go to work and respect who you’re working with until they prove they don’t get your respect," he said during a joint interview with his Outcome costars Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer.
The comment struck a chord because it goes beyond acting. It speaks to how relationships and reputation often shape long careers in Hollywood.
After more than 30 years in the business — from early fame to global success with the John Wick franchise — Reeves’ words carry the weight of lived experience.
How did Cameron Diaz respond?
Cameron Diaz immediately agreed, saying the advice applies far beyond film sets.
“Yeah. That’s life.” She also reflected on the unpredictability of fame, explaining:
“There’s no handbook or manual on being famous.”
According to Diaz, every actor has to navigate that journey in their own way.
“You gotta just make it your own—you don’t know what it’s gonna be,” she explained. “Also, there’s reaching out to other people that you admire, the way that they do it and asking them for some advice.”
She also highlighted the value of learning from people you admire and seeking guidance from those who have already walked that path, as per a report by E! News.
Matt Bomer also added an important note about longevity in the industry, saying actors should keep close friends around them — especially those who knew them before fame.

“I would say if you’re lucky like Reef, surround yourself with friends and keep your friends who maybe knew you before as well, if you can, who can really ground you and who are gonna be there by your side through the good and the bad and the ups and downs of it all," Matt Bomer advised
Why is the reunion special?
One of the biggest talking points surrounding Outcome is the reunion between Reeves and Diaz. The two previously starred together in Feeling Minnesota in 1996, and returning to work together nearly 30 years later clearly meant a lot to both stars.
Diaz said, " But I’m just so honored to get to work with Keanu as I did 30 years ago. Just to be able to do it again now, I’m really grateful.”
She added, “He’s the same generous, present, such a good human—nothing’s changed in that way.”
For Reeves, the reunion felt just as natural. “It was just kinda like, ‘Let’s go to work, let’s play, let’s do whatever we’re doing as best as we can,’” he told Cameron. “I felt like, whether it’s your fourth film or not, the artist is there.”
That sense of grounding seems to sit at the heart of the film’s message as well.
In Outcome, Reeves plays Reef Hawke, a man forced to confront his past amid a blackmail plot. The film premieres April 10 on Apple TV+, bringing together experience, nostalgia, and some unexpectedly timeless life advice from one of Hollywood’s most respected stars.
