Vladimir Putin's partial mobilization call: US Embassy urges Americans in Russia to leave as soon as possible

Since Russia's announcement that it would be partially mobilizing 300,000 troops in Ukraine, tens of thousands of men who qualify are making attempts to leave the country.

Following Russian President Vladimir Putin's failed attempt to capture Ukrainian regions and the recent decree of partial mobilization, the US Embassy in Russia has asked the Americans to leave the country as soon as possible. The call to leave the country is due to fear of conscription.

What was the official warning from the US Embassy?

On Tuesday, the US embassy in Russia urged American citizens having dual citizenship to leave the country as soon as possible as the Russian government might conscript them for military service in Ukraine. The embassy also warned that the regime might prevent access to consular assistance and departure from Russia.

Leaving the country is gradually becoming problematic in the wake of the war, with crowded border checkpoints and limited availability of commercial flights.
