According to recent reports, Vladimir Putin wants to add more army personnel to the military, so they don’t face similar problems as those seen in Ukraine. Currently, Russia has around 1.15 Million soldiers under its wing. The defense minister also said that the country would likely avoid security concerns if the military size goes up to 1.5 million.

In a desperate attempt to increase the overall numbers, Putin has showcased strong measures to add around 137,000 more soldiers into the military by the end of 2022.

How does Putin plan to add more soldiers?

In September, Putin enforced a decree and called forth 300,000 reserve soldiers, which was considered controversial across Russia.

Soon after, many young Russian men were forced to gather in military draft centers. However, many young adults who didn’t want to engage in this event started marching toward the borders to avoid this draft call.
