In Russian president Vladimir Putin's opinion, the devastating missile attacks on Ukrainian cities on Monday were revenge for their "terrorist action" on Russian soil.

In remarks aired on Monday, the Russian president claimed that Moscow had begun long-range missile attacks against Ukraine's energy, military, and communications infrastructure.

Eight people were killed, and numerous others were injured in the targeted cities of Kyiv, the country's capital, along with Lviv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr.

The National Police of Ukraine estimates that at least 10 people have been killed due to the strikes, and 60 have been hurt nationwide.

In a video posted online, Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said, "Russia wants panic and disorder, and they want to destroy our energy infrastructure."
