Alleged Williamsburg spitter is seen bloodied and beaten
According to New York Post website, video circulating online shows two unidentified men punching, kicking and stomping a man who appears to be Anthony Caines, 45, outside a hair salon on Sixth Street. It remains unclear when the footage was recorded.
Caines is seen curled on the sidewalk in a fetal position as the attackers, whose faces remain out of frame, strike him repeatedly. The men can be heard laughing while delivering blows, including kicks to Caines’ legs. Caines is heard screaming in pain throughout the assault.
The video then cuts to an image of Caines with a large gash above his left eye, blood running down his face as one of the assailants issues a warning.
“Stop violating these females out here, you heard?” the man filming says. “We’re tired of that s–t. You’re making us look bad.”
Caines was arrested Nov. 13 in connection with what police described as a serial “spitting spree.” He was released the following day with an ankle monitor after pleading not guilty to charges that include aggravated harassment based on race or religion, according to court documents obtained by The New York Post.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office continues to seek additional victims who have not yet come forward.
The NYPD said it has received no report regarding the attack shown in the footage.
