Veterans Day: Country musician Craig Morgan encourages Americans to remember ‘extreme sacrifices' of service members

Craig Morgan, a recent enlistee in the U.S. Army Reserve and a 59-year-old country music icon, recently spoke about the profound importance of the annual day of remembrance as the nation observes Veterans Day.

He stressed that it was a very special day to celebrate those who served. A veteran himself, Morgan had served 17 years in the Army and Army Reserve, holding various roles such as E-6 Staff Sergeant and Fire Support Specialist. His certifications included Airborne, Air Assault, and Rappel Master. Notably, he underlined the significance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by veterans.

He urged people to remember this Veterans Day, saying that while they were drinking, kicking back, watching games, drinking beers, and barbecuing, there were people who might not be able to do that.


Having worked with the USO and being a recipient of the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and the USO Merit Award, Morgan expressed that reenlisting had been a "refreshing" new challenge while concurrently releasing a new EP titled "Enlisted."

Morgan explained that there was a term — ‘once a soldier, always a soldier.’ He further said that he maintained his identity as a soldier, despite no longer actively serving as a duty-bound service member.

Sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve in July on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, Morgan held the rank of Staff Sergeant and could potentially become a Warrant Officer candidate. Despite his military commitments, he continued to tour and release new music in his civilian career.

Talking about his latest project, "Enlisted," which debuted in October, Morgan shared that Lainey Wilson was destined for success long before she broke onto the country scene. The EP featured collaborations with Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, and Lainey Wilson.
