US weather forecast: Heavy rains predicted in California; flash flood, landslides warning issued
The weather forecast for California shows rains, flash flooding and potential landslides.

The Golden State braces for the likelihood of flash flooding and landslides as another powerful atmospheric river storm prepares to hit the region, the Fox Weather report says.
A massive landslide on a coastal bluff has left a Southern California mansion on the edge of a cliff, but authorities have determined that the ocean-view home and neighboring residences are not in immediate danger.
The slide occurred last week in the city of Dana Point after back-to-back drenching storms that also caused numerous mud and debris flows throughout the region. The city's building inspector assessed the residential structures and a geotechnical engineer observed the slide site, the city said in a statement Wednesday.
The first of the storms should be relatively weak compared to the one coming immediately after it. That storm, which began taking shape Friday morning over the central Pacific Ocean, is expected to begin affecting the state Sunday afternoon and will last through the middle of next week.
In early February, an atmospheric river event caused severe wind and wave damage and mudslides, and it led to multiple rescues as rivers quickly overflowed their banks.
