United States will observed Veterans Day on Saturday. The day observed annually on November 11, is a federal and bank holiday in the country which honours the service of military veterans.

Originally called Armistice Day, this holiday had its roots in the aftermath of World War I and secured federal recognition as one of the nation's ten official holidays during the 1930s. The specific date of the holiday, November 11, was selected to memorialize the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany, signifying the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front in 1918.

The evolution of Veterans Day can be traced back to its origins as Armistice Day, initially designed to honor the veterans of World War I. In 1954, following the conclusion of World War II and the Korean War, Congress opted to rename the observance Veterans Day, broadening its scope to include veterans from all American wars.


Over the years, the date of observance underwent various changes until President Gerald Ford reinstated it to November 11 in 1978.

As Veterans Day falls on a Saturday, there may be uncertainties regarding business operations on Friday, Nov. 10. Are government offices open?
All federal offices will be closed on Both November 10 and 11. Some city, county and state divisions may stay open on Friday but closed on Saturday or remain shut or open on both days.

Nevertheless, even if the physical branches are closed, online banking services will still be available. This means you can proceed with online transfers and use ATMs to withdraw cash or deposit money into your account during this time.

Will there be any mail delivery?

Anticipate no services from the U.S. Postal Service on Veterans Day. However, UPS and FedEx will operate under their regular business hours. Moreover, drop-off locations for both delivery services are expected to maintain their standard hours of operation.
