US private sector witnessed steady growth in job creation in September, reveals ADP report

With 208,000 jobs added by private sector employers in September, the United States sees steady growth in employment.

The Automatic Data Processing (ADP) job report, published by the ADP Research Institute, indicates private businesses created 208,000 new jobs in September, surpassing the revised August number of 185,000 in the US. The figure is in sync with the results of a poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal earlier this week. In the poll, several economists estimated an increase of about 200,000 jobs in September.

The ADP report mentions other indicators; the annual earnings were up on a year-on-year basis by 7.8 per cent. The increase is compared to 7.7 per cent in August.

Wages for job changes went down in September, with their annual pay lowered to 15.7 per cent from 16.2 per cent in August.


Finer details of the job growth indicate that medium-sized businesses contributed the most, with 90,000 (of the total 208,000); large firms added 60,000; and small businesses contributed 58,000 new jobs.

"To decrease incarceration levels, we must reduce profit-based incentives to incarcerate by phasing out the federal government's reliance on privately operated criminal detention facilities," he added.
