US Presidential Election 2024: Why is Usha Vance being attacked by the right wing?
Donald Trump’s running mate is facing an online backlash. While many have targeted the Ohio Senator for his policies, a section of the people is targeting his personal life. Senator JD Vance who has received the official vice-presidential nomination from the Republican Party is married to an Indian origin lawyer who has graduated from the Yale Law School.

Many right-wing activists and white supremacists took to social media and lashed out at the vice-presidential nominee over his wife’s ethnic origins and her religion. They used it to question his commitment towards various right-wing policies, especially those related to immigration which have been espoused by the Republicans and presidential nominee Donald Trump himself.

Usha Vance targeted:

Far right activist Jaden McNeil took to X (formerly Twitter) shared a photo of the Senator, his wife and their children and sarcastically posted that JD Vance is going to be great on immigration. He questioned how serious would the VP hopeful be on the issue of tackling immigration.

Nick Fuentes who is a white supremacist in a podcast targeted the Vances over the “great replacement theory”. This theory is espoused by some white supremacists who allege that the US Government is seeking to replace the native White Americans with immigrants in all key positions in the public and private sectors. He targeted Usha Vance and questioned her Indian roots and questioned if the Vice-Presidential nominee who is married to an Indian origin woman will support White Americans. He also added that Usha Vance was a Hindu and not a practicing Christian.

Support for Usha Vance:

Many of the moderate Republicans came out in support of Usha Vance and pointed out that she represents the US society. Her immigrant roots and the success she has attained in the US is something that the country should take pride in. Others pointed out that Usha Vance has successfully established herself as an Attorney and she is a second generation American.

What does this mean for JD Vance?

This only indicates that the situation is only going to get more complicated for the vice-presidential nominee who represents a conservative party. Vance himself attacked the Democrats and accused them of bringing in immigrants into the US illegally, to influence the upcoming election.
