US Presidential Election 2024: Here is why Donald Trump may be slightly worried; according to the findings of this survey

According to a survey, Trump and Harris are in a neck-to-neck competition with the former president leading by a single point against the Vice-President. Among the voters who are below 45-years of age, Harris has a 10-point lead over Trump.

It is election time in the US and it is also the time when various polling surveys are making it to the news. The voters are expressing their choices and the world is curious to know the voting choices of the citizens in the world’s oldest modern democracy. One such survey has found that Kamala Harris is edging closer to Trump.

A survey which has been conducted by New York Times and Siena College showed that Harris is narrowing down her deficit in support against Donald Trump. In some worrying news for the Republican presidential nominee, he is losing the support of some key sections of the electorate, according to the same survey. The margin of error is reported to be 3.3%.

Changing political scene:

In early July, a survey conducted by New York Times found that Trump was leading against Biden by six percentage points. Ever since, Joe Biden has ended his electoral race and is most likely to be replaced by Kamala Harris as the Democrats rally around the Vice-President.

Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris:

In the most recent survey conducted by New York Times and Siena College, Trump is only leading by one point against Harris. Overall, 48% of the people supported Trump in comparison to 47% of them who extended their support to Harris.

When the survey asked registered voters, Trump had a two-point lead over Harris. However, when it specifically came down to surveying the mood of the voters below the age of 45, Harris maintained a 10-point lead over Trump. This is a segment of the electorate that the Republicans were hoping to receive the support from.

These findings are expected to hurt Trump and the Republicans who will be forced to re-orient their strategies and focus on an outreach program aimed at the youth.

Democratic Party:

President Joe Biden has ended his election campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris who is emerging as a front runner to bag the presidential nomination. He shall continue to remain the US President till a new president takes the oath of office in January.

An overwhelming 87% of the respondents to the survey approved Biden’s decision to end his campaign. 45% of the respondents did not approve of the actions taken by the Biden administration and did not support his presidency.

There were murmurs of opposition to Kamala Harris’ nomination with many Democrats demanding an open convention in which the delegates will pick Biden’s replacement. In this survey, 79% of the Democratic voters approved of Harris’ nomination with only 27% believing that the party should hold a transparent and an open competition to pick the next presidential nominee.
