2024 US Presidential Election
The attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump goes beyond domestic politics and will affect the way the world looks at the US and its democracy. Fox News has reported that various world leaders have condemned this incident and many have said that this is an attack on democracy.

Many analysts noted that the US which is seen to be in the forefront when it comes to “protecting democracy” has a challenge at home and needs to focus on that. This incident may be used by the adversaries to target the US. Many of the retired CIA officers and those from other security services have said that Russia and China may use this to their advantage.

What is happening?

The assassination attempt on Trump has led to many conspiracy theories being put out there, questions being raised on the competency of the US Secret Service and also on the decline in democratic values of a country which is seen by many as a self-appointed guardian of democracy.

It is exactly that this will be exploited by the adversaries to their advantage. They may even try to subtly influence the upcoming US Presidential Election in November.

Russia:

Ever since the sanctions after the Ukraine war and even before that, the Russians have sought to actively influence the various elections in the US in favor of their candidate. The assessment by former intelligence officials also reveal that the Russians may use this opportunity to build an inter-agency conflict between the various governmental bodies in the US that include the Secret Service, FBI and the Homeland Security among others.

The Russians may also instigate the Democrats and the Republicans against each other and use this incident to fracture the social peace and harmony. Earlier, they have effectively used cyber-attacks and social media to build a narrative in their favor.

They may seek to create some unrest and portray it as a success of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Further, this can also be used to portray that the Chinese system of life is better than the Americans.

Collapse of democratic values:

It has been reported that Trump said there is a growing concern among western democracies and any instability in the US could lead to instability in other western nations.
