US President Joe Biden voices grief after a tragic car accident kills lawmaker Jackie Walorski

Former member of Indiana's House of Representatives Jackie Walorski was killed in a car accident. She was 58. US President Joe Biden mourned Walorski's death. Two of her staff died in a crash.

Walorski, a member of the Republican Party, had represented the 2nd congressional district. In 2013, she became a member of Congress. Kevin McCarthy, the House Minority Leader, announced Walorski's death.

President Biden expressed his grief and deepest condolences to Jackie Walorski's husband, Dean, and the families of two of her staff members, Emma Thomson and Zachery Potts, who died in the car crash while on public service. He also expressed his condolences to the people of Indiana's Second District, who had just lost a respected and loved member of their community.


McCarthy said, from Walorski's office, Dean Swihart, Jackie's husband, was informed by the office of the Elkhart County Sheriff that Walorski had died in a car accident. It further reads that she has returned home to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord, and Savior. They asked people to keep her family in their thoughts and prayers.

Several lawmakers and staff members reminisced about the congresswoman and the two staffers after the news of their deaths.

The statement from the White House read that the President and his wife Jill were both saddened and shocked by Congresswoman Jackie Walorski's death as well as the deaths of two of her staff members.

The statement continued that they had represented different parties and disagreed on a few issues but very much respected her.

As a meat cutter and a firefighter's daughter, Walorski dedicated her life to the betterment of the community where she had grown up as a state legislator, a nonprofit director, a journalist, and lastly, a Member of Congress. She remained the same for the tenure of nine and a half years.
