US President Joe Biden on Friday pardoned six people. These people included an 80-year-old woman convicted of killing her abusive husband about a half-century ago, a man who pleaded guilty to using a telephone for a cocaine transaction in the 1970s and four other people.

The Presidential Pardon means that the criminal record of these people is now purged. These announcements come a few months after the president pardoned thousands of people, who were convicted of “simple possession” of marijuana under federal law. Biden also pardoned three people earlier this year and has commuted the sentences of 75 others.

Those that have been granted the pardon are

Beverly Ann Ibn-Tamas: 80-year-old Beverly from Columbus, who was 33 years old when she was convicted of killing her husband. She testified that her husband used to beat her, abuse her verbally, and also threatened her. She informed the jurors that she shot him right after he assaulted her while she was pregnant. Ibn-Tamas received one to five years of incarceration with credit for time served.

Charles Byrnes-Jackson: 77-year-old Charles from Swansea, South Carolina pleaded guilty to possession and sale of spirits without tax stamps when he was 18, and it involved a single illegal whiskey transaction. He attempted to join the Marines but was turned down due to his conviction.

John Dix Nock III: 72-year-old John from St. Augustine, Florida, pleaded guilty to using his property as a grow house for marijuana 27 years ago. He received a six-month sentence in community confinement.
