Because he won't have to deal with Salt Bae, Lionel Messi has ultimately been given a strong reason to transfer to the United States. Salt Bae is the celebrity chef who somehow managed to get in with the Argentina team on Sunday as they celebrated winning the 2022 World Cup after a thrilling penalty shootout victory against France in Qatar. Salt Bae's real name is Nusret Gokce.

Salt Bae's social stature has soared since he went viral in January 2017 for his distinct method of seasoning and preparing meat. He now runs a chain of upscale steakhouses called Nusr-Et that often draws A-listers.

But when he awkwardly joined the Argentina players on the field at Lusail Stadium, he wasn't much liked by football fans, and it led to another tournament's organisers to comically ban him. The clip showing Salt Bae being snubbed by Lionel Messi on Sunday after Argentina’s historic win also did several rounds on social media.
