The US Open third round resumes on Saturday with several high-profile names in action. Coco Gauff, seeded third, continues her battle to master a revamped serve that has tested both her game and her composure. Against Donna Vekic in the second round, the American broke down in tears after a string of double faults left her struggling to hold serve. Despite tallying seven double faults in the opening set, she steadied herself with only one in the second, showing resilience to secure the win and move into the third round. Gauff now faces Magdalena Frech, an opponent she has beaten comfortably in their previous encounters.

Meanwhile, world number one Jannik Sinner remains on course to defend his crown. The Italian brushed past Alexei Popyrin in straight sets but now confronts a tricky test in Denis Shapovalov. Their only prior meeting came at the 2021 Australian Open, where Shapovalov edged Sinner in a marathon four-hour clash. Sinner will be eager to avenge that defeat as he continues his title defense.

Former world number one Naomi Osaka has powered into the third round without dropping a set. Facing 15th seed Daria Kasatkina, Osaka is bidding to reach the last 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time since lifting the 2021 Australian Open title.
